Runked vs Runna

Updated August 24, 2026 · By the Runked team

Both are training-plan apps, not activity trackers. Runna sells coaching depth: coach-built plans for 5K to 50km with strength, mobility, yoga and stretch sessions built into the same calendar, on iOS and Android, for $119.99 a year (or $19.99 a month). Runked sells motivation plus plans at a fraction of the price: the same core of personalized 5K–marathon plans and race predictions, wrapped in a rank that can rise or fall, weekly effort-scored leagues and streaks, for $59.99 a year — but iPhone only, with no strength or mobility programming. If you want the deepest plan customization and don't mind paying for it, pick Runna. If you want a plan plus a reason to open the app every day, at half the price, pick Runked.

Where Runna wins

Runna's plan-building is genuinely deeper than Runked's. You pick your goal, ability, session length, weekly frequency, preferred days and available equipment, for distances from 5K up to 50km over plans running 6 to 26 weeks. It's the only one of the two that schedules strength, mobility, yoga and stretch & stability sessions inside the same training calendar as your runs, which is a real advantage for runners who want one app to plan everything, not just the running. It runs on iOS and Android, so it doesn't lock out anyone's phone, and it's now available in eight languages beyond English. Runna was acquired by Strava in 2025 and still operates as its own app, which shows in how widely it syncs — Apple Watch, Garmin, Coros, Fitbit, Apple Health, Google Fit and Strava itself. For runners who want the closest thing to a human coach without hiring one, that combination of customization depth and reach is hard to match. Runked is a young app by comparison, still building its feature set.

Where Runked wins

Price is the first difference: Runked PRO is $59.99 a year or $11.99 a week, against Runna's $119.99 a year or $19.99 a month — roughly half, for the same core of a personalized training plan and race predictions, plus Runner DNA and fitness/fatigue analytics that Runna doesn't offer. Runked also has an actual free tier: GPS tracking, a running rank, weekly leagues, streaks and device sync, no card required. Runna has no equivalent — the app is a 7-day trial and then a subscription, full stop. The bigger structural difference is the motivation layer. Runna's own Runna Score is private and measures you against your own plan; there's no rank, no league, no way to compete with anyone else. Runked's rank can climb or fall with every run, weekly leagues score effort so a beginner's honest week can outrank a faster runner's easy one, and streaks reward showing up. If the plan alone isn't enough to keep you consistent, Runked adds the layer that's designed to.

Frequently asked questions

Is Runna worth the price?

If you want the deepest coach-built plan on the market — strength, mobility, yoga and stretch sessions built into the same calendar as your runs, heavy customization of goal, ability and equipment — yes, that depth is real. At $119.99/year (or $19.99/month) with no permanent free tier, you're paying for that depth specifically, not for a rank or league system, which Runna doesn't have.

Cheaper Runna alternative?

Runked. PRO is $59.99/year (7-day trial) or $11.99/week, roughly half Runna's $119.99 annual price, and includes personalized 5K–marathon plans and race predictions. It doesn't build in strength or mobility sessions the way Runna does, and it's iPhone only — the trade is plan depth for price plus a competitive layer Runna lacks.

Do both make plans for my race?

Yes. Runna builds coach-created plans for 5K to 50km over 6–26 weeks with a race time prediction. Runked PRO builds personalized plans from 5K to marathon with race time predictions included, plus Runner DNA and fitness/fatigue tracking Runna doesn't offer.

Which keeps you consistent?

Depends what motivates you. Runna's own Runna Score is private and compares you only to your own plan — no rank, league or streak. Runked's rank rises or falls with every run, weekly leagues are scored on effort, and streaks reward showing up. If visible competition keeps you running, that layer exists in Runked and not in Runna.
